Land, Being, Belonging: The Power of Coexistence in the Ever-Changing World

RISD Undergraduate Architecture Thesis 2025

“When we begin to open our eyes and see the world around us, we are able to contextualize ourselves within the larger interdependent system and recognize the power of coexistence.”

Master Plan Collective
House for All Beings - Seasonal Perspectives

“As I slowly redefine my relationship with the various places, people, and spaces to call home, I think of the process of change. The transition from one place to another and the details in between. Mapping the large jumps between nations, states, or even streets, but acknowledging the key moments of the journey onward. Change is inevitable,
uncomfortable, and needed.”

Building with Nature: Wind Catcher Towers in La Campaña 2024

“Our collective goal is to acknowledge the possibilities of coexistence with natural building materials that foster mutual flourishing between human and non-human ecologies. Regenerating a world built on an economy of exchange rather than extraction, as climate crisis conditions demand we do.”

Indigenous Global Storytelling: Recollections from a Transracial Adoptee

Sophie’s Adapted Adoption Book 2024

“When you’re adopted, you usually have a photo album, kind of like a baby book, but it is typically referred to as an adoption book because it documents the moment you were brought home. I have one with various photos from the moment I was legally adopted to being held by my birth-mother. Now, as a 22-year-old, I can contribute my own perspective to these records and document the feelings I share in this moment and perhaps my desires for the future.”

Philadelphia 2123: The City of Chosen Family

Safe spaces that derive from interdependence and community. I hope for a future where she does not have to justify her existence, or her resilience, but rather, embraces it. Acknowledge the growing pains and recognize the beauty of change. To grow up with the people I always needed and still do.

The Post-Borderzone

Ecosystems Know No Borders: Reimaging Regeneration Through Transboundary Co-Existence

The borderlands must be recognized as multidimensional, multifunctional, and multifaceted landscapes that are home to various beings. From migrant workers who raise their families across the border zone to the group of Lechuguillas you see driving on Highway 85, the borderlands are temporary for some and permanent for many.
